A schooo! It's a schooo!

Everything is exciting when you're 22 months old.
Today, Bracha sat near Aba as he lifted his leg-weights. Every time his sneaker went up, Bracha exclaimed, "It's a schoo! A schoo!" grinning ear to ear.

"Pweeze......wight now"

Bracha:
"I wan a bottie miwk"
"I wan a bottie miiiiiiiiiwk"
"Give it a bottie miwk!"
"Pweeze, a bottie miwk."

Very sweetly, batting eyelashes: "Pweeze, have a bottie miwk....wight now."

Bracha: "I a guwwy"

Bracha, at 22 months old, still couldn't care less for dolls or teddies. She likes to play with cars ("Bumi gwab muh-cycoo") and lego ("wuggle mentsche" "a me guy"). She is girlish in some ways, though. She's very particular about her clothing ("I wike my Abbie shirt!" "I want fower dress") and would be content to sit and watch for any amount of time that I would agree to draw "ba-fly" stick figures for her.

I also think that pink is the only color she has begun to identify.

Moishy, the philosophe

A few weeks after Pesach:
"If Hashem told Avraham that his children were gonna be slaves in mitzrayim, why did he punish the mitzrim?"

Yesterday:
Moishy: "Hashem knows everything that's gonna happen, right?"
Mommy: "Yes."
Moishy: "So Hashem knew the Jews weren't gonna do teshuva. Why did He warn them so many times before destroying the Bais HaMikdash?"

Shabbaton In Fleischmann's!

We hit the road at 4:40 AM to beat the traffic and get there for Shacharis. We arrived at 7:20.
Later today a truck flipped on the Thruway. Everyone else took around six hours to get here.

The Oppenheimer's Regis Hotel! Nothing has changed here in last 50 years. The building looks as if it might just lean too far forward one day and fall on its face. The chimney running up the side of the building is curved, like a spine with scoliosis.

Wi-Fi? Ha! If there was such a thing as dialup Wi-Fi, they might have it.

There's a single fridge downstairs which is stuffed with everyone's nutritional supplements (kishka, soda, etc.). A handwritten note reads "PUT A NAME AND DATE ON YOUR FOOD OR IT WILL BE THROWN OUT!" It reminds me of a communal fridge you might find in a yeshiva dorm (or in a Regis Hotel).

Bracha is in Unfamiliar Surroundings Mode, clinging to Mommy and insisting "Pik oo up!" nonstop. As soon as "Unka Benji" showed up she latched on to him. Before long, though, she got more comfortable, as indicated by her willingness to go up/down the stairs herself ("one, two, five, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, eleven, eleven...)

Moshke is here, and he brought a fridge. To hold all the, um, seltzer he bought.

Bracha learned a new trick. I asked her "what's your name" and she said, "Mawy Jane". Oh well.

Ah, the memories... Bobby finds the beer... Speeching... Standing up for old womans... Separate men women washing sink... Library... Magna tiles in the hall...

The drive home? Mostly peaceful! Moishy and Bumi didn't sleep a wink. Bracha was out for almost the whole ride, except the end, when she repeatedly insisted "I wanna dwive!"

Hands Up

Yesterday, Bracha pointed a spatula at me and demanded, "Hands Up!". I think she's learning too much from her brothers.

Life

Moish and Bumi survive on Life cereal: breakfast, lunch, and supper. They must have named it for us.

Shearings

2 haircuts to go.

YouTube:
Lego Mario --> Super Mario 64 --> Lego Donkey Kong ---> Lego Pac-Man ---> Yalili

2 haircuts down.

Cidabid

Moishy and Bumi want cinnamon on everything: cereal... yogurt... macaroni... What's next? chicken? Do you think this is getting a little out of hand?

Pomegranate

The book I was reading to Bumi mentioned a pomegranate tree.

Me: "Bumi, do you know what a pomegranate is?"
Bumi: "It's a kind of big cherry."

Kranky Kipchur Day

Bracha was happy all day, except when I tried to get the kids' photo taken at Picture People. The picture lady tried so hard to make her smile. She asked Bracha "You want bubbles?" "Do you want a ballie". To all her pleadings, Bracha pouted and defiantly answered, "No!"
And then when it was time to leave, she didn't want to come out of the sand!

After pictures, the kids played happily at the indoor playground. Whenever another child approached the slide, Bracha got upset, "No. My slide!"

Googai

Bracha likes playing with Lego "googai"s. She heard Moish and Bumi identifying one of their Lego men as a "good guy" and that became her standard Lego man name.

When she looks in the mirror she says, "Baby!", but she does seem to understand that it's herself.
My real 29th birthday!

I just cracked my tooth, just in time for the July 4th weekend! The dentist says it can wait till she gets back on Wednesday. Umm, okaay...
